Quick Take: Based on the 16 volume manga by Masami Yuuki and the previous series of 4 OVAs, Tetsuwan Birdy Decode is a sci-fi crime comedy-drama with serious gender bending going on: the male high-schooler Senkawa is fused with an alien female undercover space cop in an inexplicable, organic way. A couple of new characters got introduced but nothing along the lines of antagonists. A few season 2 plot points got set into motion which was nice and it did somewhat answer my question of how relevant Nakasugi The story seemed to lack any real punch, like it knew it was just supposed to bridge the first and second season and didn't have much real substance, which is fine for an OVA. At the time I watched it though I didn't know how helpful it was actually going to be when making the transition. I watched this OVA before I saw season 2 of Birdy: Decode so I was helped out as I entered into the second season. ![]()
